The Facts
- Vehicle crashes are one of the leading causes of death for children between 1 and 13 years old
- Every 33 seconds in 2015, one child under the age of 13 was involved in a crash.
- Nearly 60 percent of car seats are installed or adjusted incorrectly.
Nevada Laws
- Any child under the age of 6 AND less than 57” tall MUST be in a federally approved child restraint system.
- Any child under the age of 2 MUST be rear facing in the back of the vehicle.
- Once a child is 6 years of age AND 57” or taller they may sit in a car using only the vehicle’s seat belt system.
Ensure Your Child's Safety
- Keep children in the back seat until at least 12 years of age.
- Visit a car seat checkpoint or find a certified car seat technician to learn to properly install your child’s car seat and verifythe installation and fit of your child
- Know the history of your car seat. Do NOT use a car seat that has been involved in any type of accident.
