Fire Extinguisher Training Program
Storey County Fire Protection District is proud and excited to announce the launch of our new Fire Extinguisher Training Program. This program has been developed and is open to all individuals of all ages and skill sets as well as businesses and their employees.
P.A.S.S Method

Sweep Nozzle
This program will include a brief introduction to the importance, use, and components of fire extinguishers. In addition, participants will get to practice and hone their skills in applying the P.A.S.S. method.
Best Practices
- Recommended you keep at least one fire extinguisher in your kitchen and one in your garage.
- Check fire extinguishers monthly.
- Red Means Dead — Service or replace your extinguisher if the needle is in the red.
- ALWAYS place yourself between an exit and the fire.
- ALWAYS call 911 in event of a fire even if you are able to extinguish with your personal extinguisher.
